Website Terms & Conditions

Terms governing access to and use of The Refinery website.

Version 1.0 | Effective date: 12 October 2026

Introduction

Welcome to The Refinery website. These Website Terms & Conditions explain the rules that apply when you visit, browse or use our website, including contacting us or submitting an enquiry.

By using our website, you agree to comply with these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.

These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Notice and any applicable information about cookies. Separate Retail Sales, Services, Returns & Refund Terms apply to products purchased and services provided at our studio.

1. Using our website

You may use our website for lawful personal and informational purposes, including viewing information about our services and contacting us.

You must not use the website for unlawful, fraudulent or malicious purposes; attempt unauthorised access to the website or associated systems; introduce malicious software; disrupt its operation or security; or copy or commercially exploit website material without permission.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users or our systems.

2. Information about our studio and services

Our website provides general information about The Refinery, our services, products and approach. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current, but details may change.

Descriptions, photographs, examples and treatment information are intended to help you understand what we offer. Results may vary between individuals, and website content does not replace an individual consultation or suitability assessment.

Services and treatments are subject to availability, individual suitability, relevant consultation and consent requirements, and the terms applicable to the service. Nothing in this section restricts rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

3. Enquiries and appointments

Submitting an enquiry or consultation request through the website does not automatically confirm an appointment or create a contract for a service.

We will contact you to discuss the enquiry, appointment availability and any relevant requirements. An appointment is confirmed only when we expressly confirm it.

Appointment arrangements, deposits, cancellations, treatment suitability and the delivery of studio services are governed by the relevant booking information and studio terms communicated to you.

4. Prices and product information

We aim to display accurate descriptions and prices. Unless stated otherwise, prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.

Prices, availability, service descriptions and product information may be updated when reasonably necessary. We will explain the applicable price and any relevant conditions before a purchase or service is agreed.

Product photographs and hair colours may vary slightly because of lighting, screen settings or natural variation. Nothing here limits statutory rights in relation to goods or services.

5. No online sales

The website is provided for information and enquiries. The Refinery does not currently sell retail products or hair systems through the website or accept payment for purchases through an online store.

Retail purchases and salon services are arranged directly with The Refinery. Separate Retail Sales, Services, Returns & Refund Terms apply to those purchases and services.

6. Privacy and cookies

We handle personal information in accordance with The Refinery Privacy Notice.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies. Where consent is required for non-essential cookies or technologies, we will seek that consent before using them. You can review the information and available preference controls provided on the website.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the branding, trade names, text, photographs, images, videos, graphics, documents, website design and other content on this website are owned by us or used with permission from the relevant rights holder.

You may view the website and make reasonable personal, non-commercial use of its content. You must not reproduce, republish, distribute, modify or commercially exploit our content without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

References to Defined & Co products, names and materials do not grant any permission to use that brand or its intellectual property.

8. Website availability and security

We aim to keep the website available and working properly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that it will always be free from errors or technical issues.

We may update, suspend or withdraw content or website functions where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security or business reasons.

You are responsible for using appropriate security precautions when accessing websites and for ensuring information you submit is accurate.

9. Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, booking platforms or other services for convenience.

Those websites operate under their own terms and privacy arrangements. We do not control their content, availability or security and recommend that you review their relevant notices.

10. Liability and statutory rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for temporary website interruptions, technical problems outside our reasonable control, or loss resulting from improper or unauthorised use of the website, to the extent permitted by law.

These terms govern website use only. They do not replace any statutory rights or remedies arising from retail purchases or salon services.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in website functionality, services, business arrangements or legal requirements.

The current version will be made available on our website and will apply from its stated effective date.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections and legal rights concerning court proceedings.
