PRIVATE, PROFESSIONAL, NORMAL
Nothing needs to feel awkward.

It is completely normal to feel nervous before your first intimate waxing appointment. The treatment is unfamiliar, the area is personal and you may not know what you will be expected to do.
That uncertainty usually disappears within the first few minutes.
I will explain the treatment, confirm exactly which areas you want waxed and guide you through everything as we go. Your appointment is private, only the area being treated needs to be exposed and you remain in control throughout.
There is nothing about your body that will surprise me or cause judgement. My attention is on delivering the treatment professionally and helping you feel comfortable.
MALE INTIMATE WAXING
Straightforward care for a personal treatment.

Male intimate waxing removes hair from the intimate area using professional hot wax developed for sensitive areas.
Before beginning, I will confirm what you want removed and what you would prefer to leave. I will only treat the areas we have agreed together.
I will guide you clearly through any positioning needed so I can support the skin and treat each area safely. This is a normal part of the service and will always be handled professionally.
The sensation is sharp but brief. Most first-time clients find the experience considerably more manageable than they expected.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
A little preparation makes a real difference.

Allow enough hair growth
Please stop shaving, trimming and using hair-removal creams for at least three weeks before your appointment.
The hair needs to be at least 5mm long, approximately the length of a grain of rice, for the wax to grip it properly.
There is no need to trim longer hair yourself. If it needs shortening, I will do this safely at the beginning of your appointment.
Shower shortly beforehand
For health, hygiene and comfort, it is important that you shower or bathe as close to your appointment as reasonably possible.
Please arrive with clean, dry skin and do not apply products to the area being treated.
- Avoid products on the treatment area
For 24 hours before your appointment, do not apply:
Moisturiser or body cream
Body oil
Deodorant or antiperspirant
Aftershave or cologne
Talcum powder
Fake tan
AHA, BHA, retinol and other vitamin A skincare products must not be used on the treatment area for at least 48 hours beforehand.
Please also tell me if you use benzoyl peroxide, prescription skincare or anti-collagenic medication, as these may affect whether I can safely carry out your treatment.
Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day of your appointment. Being well hydrated may help make the treatment more comfortable.
Dress for comfort
Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing and underwear, or bring a clean change with you. Tight clothing can create unnecessary heat and friction across freshly waxed skin.
- Avoid heat, friction and heavy activity
For 24 hours beforehand, avoid:
Intense exercise
Swimming
Sunbathing and sunbeds
Saunas and steam rooms
Optional pain relief
If you would normally take paracetamol safely, you may choose to take two tablets around 20 minutes before your appointment to help reduce discomfort, following the instructions on the packet.
If you normally take antihistamines safely, taking them before your appointment may help minimise skin reactions. Always follow the packet instructions and only take medication you know is suitable for you.
SUITABILITY
Tell me anything that could affect your skin.
I will assess your skin before the treatment begins. I also need you to tell me honestly about any medication, health condition, allergy, recent treatment or skin concern that could affect your suitability.
This is not about making the appointment uncomfortable or intrusive. It allows me to protect your skin and carry out the treatment safely.
When waxing cannot be carried out
I cannot carry out a waxing treatment if you have:
A urinary tract infection
Very thin or fragile skin
Sunburnt, chafed, broken or actively irritated skin
A contagious or infectious skin condition
Long-term or high-dose steroid use
Topical steroid creams on the treatment area
Systemic steroid medication, including prednisolone
You must wait at least six months after completing a course of isotretinoin before having a waxing treatment.
When medical referral is required
I will need an appropriate medical referral before waxing if you have:
Diabetes
A sexually transmitted infection
A bleeding disorder, including haemophilia, thrombocytopenia or von Willebrand disease
Oedema
Current cancer treatment
Recent medical treatment or surgery affecting the area
Prescribed blood-thinning medication, including warfarin or heparin
Please contact me before booking so I can explain what will be needed.
When an area cannot be waxed
I cannot wax directly over or across:
Bruises
Cuts, abrasions or grazes
Blisters
Insect bites
Varicose veins or visible capillary damage
Active eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis
Recent scar tissue
Infected ingrown hairs
Raised moles or skin tags
External haemorrhoids
Any area affected by active irritation or inflammation
Depending on the location and extent of the concern, I may be able to avoid the affected area or may need to postpone your treatment.
When additional care may be needed
Please tell me if you have:
Joint or mobility difficulties
Epilepsy
Increased or reduced sensitivity to heat, including sensitivity caused by nerve damage
Multiple sclerosis
Fibromyalgia
A tendency to bruise easily
These conditions do not automatically prevent treatment, but they may affect positioning, temperature checks or how I carry out the treatment.
Allergies and intolerances
Please tell me about any known allergy or intolerance, particularly to:
Sticking plasters or adhesives
Lanolin
Aspirin or other salicylates
Nuts
Essential oils
If you are unsure whether a condition, medication or product affects your suitability, contact me before your appointment. It is always better to ask.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT?
Clear from start to finish.

When you arrive
I will confirm your treatment, discuss any relevant medical information or skin sensitivities and make sure we both understand exactly which areas you want waxed.
Nothing begins until you understand what will happen and are comfortable to continue.
Getting ready
You will only need to remove the clothing required to access the treatment area. I will give you privacy to get ready, and only the area being treated needs to be exposed.
During the treatment
I will prepare your skin before applying and removing the professional wax methodically in sections.
For intimate waxing, I will guide you through the positions needed to reach and support each area safely. I will explain these clearly as we go, without expecting you to already know what to do.
I will check that you are comfortable throughout. You can ask a question, request a pause or stop the treatment at any time.
After the treatment
I will clean the area and apply an appropriate post-wax product where suitable.
Some redness, warmth or sensitivity is completely normal after waxing, particularly following your first treatment. This usually begins settling within a few hours and may take 24 to 48 hours to disappear fully.
Before you leave, I will go through the aftercare guidance with you and give you a printed leaflet to take home. You can also download another copy from this page whenever you need it.
AFTERCARE
Give your skin time to settle.

The first 48 hours after waxing are important. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive to heat, friction, perspiration and products.
For 48 hours after your treatment, avoid:
Intense exercise and heavy sweating
Swimming
Saunas and steam rooms
Hot baths
Sunbathing and sunbeds
Tight or restrictive clothing
Sexual activity following intimate waxing
Deodorant, antiperspirant, aftershave, cologne, oils or fragranced products on the treated area
- Do not exfoliate the area for the first 48 hours.
Once the immediate sensitivity has settled, gentle exfoliation two or three times each week can help reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to keep your skin comfortable.
Wear clean, loose-fitting and breathable clothing while your skin settles.
If you experience anything that concerns you after your appointment, please contact me.

FAQ
The questions people sometimes feel awkward asking.
You can also contact me privately if there is something you would rather ask directly.
Does intimate waxing hurt?
You will feel it, particularly during your first appointment, but each removal is over quickly and I will keep the treatment moving at a pace you can manage.
Most clients find it much more straightforward than expected. Regular appointments also tend to become easier as you become familiar with the process.
Will I need to remove all my clothes?
Only the clothing needed to access the treatment area. I will tell you what needs to be removed and give you privacy to get ready.
What if I feel embarrassed?
Feeling nervous or self-conscious before your first appointment is completely normal.
I am a trained professional who understands both the technical and personal sides of intimate waxing. Nothing about your body will be treated as strange or embarrassing.
What if I have an erection?
An erection can be an involuntary physical response during an intimate treatment. It happens, I understand it and there is no reason to feel embarrassed.
I will handle it calmly and professionally, and the treatment can continue where appropriate.
An involuntary response is very different from deliberate sexual behaviour. Any sexual comments, requests or inappropriate conduct will result in me stopping the treatment immediately.
What if my hair is too long?
Leave it alone. If the hair needs shortening, I will trim it safely before beginning the treatment.
Please do not cut or trim it yourself because taking it too short may prevent the wax from gripping properly.
How often should I be waxed?
Most clients return every four to six weeks. Your own routine will depend on your hair growth, the areas being treated and how you prefer to maintain the result.
What if this is my first wax?
That is completely fine. You do not need to know how the treatment works or what positions will be required.
I will explain everything and guide you through the appointment from beginning to end.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. All waxing services I deliver through The Wax Room @ The Refinery are strictly for clients aged 18 and over.
